About Us
Syndicate Apps was officially founded in June of 2011, but our interest in Android development started even before purchasing our first generation devices thanks to its’ origination with the Open Handset Alliance and inconceivable short and long-term projections.
We knew Google’s open source platform was going to be the next big thing in an industry previously dominated by feature phones and closed operating systems, but one thing we didn’t expect was how soon our Smartphones would become outdated by the release of subsequent Android versions – which went unsupported by the manufacturers of our relatively new devices for over a year in regards to Gingerbread, while we never would have seen an official source for Honeycomb or ICS without buying a new $500 phone or tablet.
This is the way most technology works though, so in order to partially resolve the feeling of phone-envy that all Android owners will inevitably face, we decided to take the issue of fragmentation into our own hands. We started by developing for CyanogenMod 7 as well as our own universal template that was compatible with all of the most popular home replacement apps at the time, and in the first year created 15 custom UI-based themes to bring the look of each Android release to all phone models regardless of how old or new they were. We took this idea even further by developing Honeycomb Launcher and ICS Launcher, giving devices not only the icons and UI elements that the themes provided but the functionality of these newer versions of Android as well.
Syndicate Apps is now a leading app development company that has released several very successful launchers and themes to the Market in the past few years. We dish out innovative apps that completely transform your device UI with fresh design and amazing usability. Our upcoming app Omega Launcher is the culmination of five months developing full-time to resolve our own fragmentation issues surrounding UI-based launchers and themes – and will be the most customizable and feature-packed home replacement app on the market when we are ready to launch in Spring 2012.
